Kids In Tech is looking for a part-time STEAM Teacher - Instructor to bring hands-on, exciting learning experiences to students ages 8 - 14. In this part-time role, earning $17.55 - $28.50/hour, you'll teach engaging lessons, mentor students, and show them how STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) connects to their everyday lives.

Since our first after-school tech club launched in 2016, Kids in Tech has empowered young learners from low-income households to engage in immersive, hands-on STEM education. Our interactive program provides children aged 8 - 14 the skills, education, and confidence they need to improve their technology savvy and thrive as future leaders. YOUR SCHEDULE AS A STEAM TEACHER - INSTRUCTOR
This part-time position follows the school calendar, running from October 2024 to June 2025. You'll work at least two days per week at partner sites, teaching live sessions. There will also be some time needed for lesson prep, team meetings, and tracking student progress.
YOUR DAY
As a part-time STEAM Teacher - Instructor, you'll lead two small student groups, teaching interactive, 60-minute sessions that make STEAM learning fun and meaningful. You'll prepare materials, guide hands-on activities, and create a welcoming space where kids feel excited to explore new ideas. As a mentor, you'll show students how STEAM skills connect to their future careers and daily life. You'll also keep families involved with monthly updates, organize field trips and guest speaker visits, and work closely with partner sites to align lessons with their goals. Tracking student progress and celebrating their achievements will be part of your routine, making sure every child gets the most out of the program!
REQUIREMENTS FOR A STEAM TEACHER - INSTRUCTOR
- • High school student, graduate, or possesses equivalent to a diploma (ideally aged 16 - 24)
- • Passion for STEM fields (related club or coursework experience a plus)
- • Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a growth mindset
Being a Boston resident or having reliable transportation is preferred. Experience in education or youth development is also preferred. Bilingual candidates are encouraged, especially in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, French, Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin, Cape Verdean Creole, or Khmer!
